July 7, 2009

  1. Disrespect my parents.
  2. Disregard my family.
  3. Discriminate my religion, country and people.
  4. Formulate unnecessary lies when I can just forget and understand.
  5. Call yourself my friend when you don’t seem one.
  6. Forget my birthday.

Tormenting Insecurities of A Graduate-to-be

April 5, 2009

In a weeks time, I will no longer be doing some pain in the ass school work. It’s goodbye to assignments, reports and papers! I wiill graduate from college and finally leave the gruesome life of an International Relations student. How endearing really! But the bad part of this stress free status is ofcourse the thought that now, I have to find a job!

Okay so what really is the first thing that comes to your mind when thinking of what to do after graduation? REST. Lets not all be hypocrites shall we? =) Yes it is true particularly in my case. But when I think of lazy days with nothing to do, I GET SCARED. and then suddenly I panic. Thoughts suddenly flooding my mind. I am getting really insecure! I hate the feeling.

Finding a job especially nowadays can be really challenging. Great academic achievements? Lah, save ‘em. Not all companies go for the beautiful achievements you write in your resumes. In interviews and screenings, they only give a quick scan to your 3 page ticket to future and then the rest they base on your answers and physical look.

Just the other day, the very first opportunity had knocked my door when Foreign Service Institute, where I completed my 150 hours on the job training requirement, announced that they have an opening for 5 COS employees.  We were advised to submit a resume, which of course we did, and was followed by a screening  interview. Third stop, final interview. I am still waiting for their call, text and email. And since it has been 2 days since the screening, I am having the feeling that I am not one of those fortunates who might have the chance to get that COS slot.(Good luck to those who qualified for the final interview)

So thinking that maybe I really didnt pass the screening, I have enlisted things that I will do right after my graduation.

  1. 2 months rest.

  2. Civil Service Exam

  3. Learn how to drive

  4.

  5.

Gosh. Im running out of ideas. Nothing to write in numbers 4 and 5!

So for now, I am waiting for the FSI interview. If I dont get it, then its not for me. If I get a call back, then wish me luck! I’ll update as soon as I can. My best lucks to everyone who needs it. =)
